Legend says it was built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo as part of a grand design to pin down a giant demoness across the region. Kurje Lhakhang: The Sacred Imprint of the Guru
Just a short distance away lies Kurje Lhakhang, a massive and breathtaking temple complex built against a solid rock face. This site is profoundly holy as it houses a cave where Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated and left the physical imprint of his body (Kurje) on the rock. Surrounded by towering cypress trees and fluttering prayer flags, the complex radiates a powerful spiritual energy that attracts pilgrims from all corners of the kingdom.
