Eastern Bhutan is one of the last truly undiscovered frontiers of Himalayan travel. While western Bhutan attracts most visitors, the east remains strikingly untouched, culturally distinct, and extraordinarily beautiful. The Eastern Bhutan Explorer takes you deep into the kingdom’s remote heartland, from the historic fortress of Trongsa to the spiritual valleys of Bumthang, over the spectacular Thrumshing La Pass to the silk-weaving villages of Trashigang. This is Bhutan as very few travellers have seen it. Raw, authentic, and unforgettable.

Trip Highlights

  • Cross the high-altitude Thrumshing La Pass (3,800 metres)
  • Visit Trongsa Dzong, ancestral seat of Bhutan’s royal family
